Dr. Ronald Sega, Director of Defense Research and Engineering, DoD, will be the featured guest at a Media Breakfast hosted by New Technology Week and Defense Week on Wednesday, January 22 at 10- 11:00 AM.
Dr. Sega is the chief technical advisor to the Secretary of Defense and the Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition, Technology and Logistics for scientific and technical matters, basic and applied research and advanced technology development. His portfolio includes all science and technology programs of the U.S. military. His agency responsibilities include the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), Army Research Office, Office of Naval Research (ONR), Air Force Office of Science and Research.
Dr. Sega’s management of DRE comes at a critical time — DoD is undergoing several technical revolutions, both as a matter of policy and of operations. Through “Force Transformation,” DoD is pushing the military into ever more complex and force-multiplying technologies. The recent war in Afghanistan has speeded development and deployment of new technologies such as precision- guided munitions, unmanned aerial vehicles, and new joint operations communications systems. The prospective war in Iraq will require advanced defensive systems against chemical, biological and other weapons of mass destruction.
The Media Breakfast will be held at the offices of New Technology Week and Defense Week, 1325 G Street NW, tenth floor, Suite 1003 (G Street between 13th & 14th, and one-half block from Metro Center). All reporters are welcome to attend, but RSVP is required. Please contact: Grant Stockdale, 202.662.1555 or “gstockdale@kingpublishing.com”
