Former Marion County, Fla., teacher and NASA Astronaut Joseph M. Acaba will be the featured speaker at Central Florida Community College (CFCC) April 13.

Acaba’s presentation will focus on the astronaut selection process and astronaut candidate training. His talk begins at 7 p.m. in the Ewers Century Center of CFCC, 3001 Southwest College Road, Ocala. It is open to the public.

Selected as an Educator Astronaut by NASA in May 2004, Acaba completed his initial astronaut training in February 2006. Acaba is doing technical work while awaiting a future space flight assignment. Prior to his selection, Acaba was a school teacher at Melbourne High School and Dunnellon Middle School in Florida.
