Columbus, Ohio-Battelle announced today that Sean O’ Keefe has been elected to the Board of Directors of the global research and development organization.
O’Keefe is Chancellor of the Louisiana State University, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He previously served in numerous high-level positions on the national scene, including Administrator of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, Deputy Assistant to the President and Deputy Director of the Office of Management and Budget, and Secretary of the Navy.

McCoy, Chairman of the Battelle Board of Directors. “He has been a major contributor at the national level to science and technology policy, space exploration, defense, research and development, and education. Mr. O’ Keefe has served our nation very well and he will be a strong asset to our Board.”

O’Keefe’s accomplishments also include the following: service as the Louis A. Bantle Professor of Business and Government Policy at the Syracuse University Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs; eight years of service on the United States Senate Committee on Appropriations staff; and recipient of the Distinguished Public Service Award, presented by the President of the United States. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Loyola University (New Orleans, Louisiana) and Master of Public Administration degree from Syracuse University. O’Keefe is the author of several journal articles, contributing author of “Keeping the Edge: Managing Defense for the Future,” and co-author of “The Defense Industry in the Post Cold War Era: Corporate Strategies and Public Policy Perspectives.” He is a Fellow of the National Academy of Public Administration.
