Space shuttle Endeavour’s launch to the International Space Station has been postponed until Wednesday, July 15, due to poor weather conditions within the launch area at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida. Liftoff is scheduled for 3:03 p.m. PDT.
Today’s attempt was canceled when anvil clouds and storm cells containing lightning flared up toward the end of the countdown, violating stringent launch safety rules.
A postponement briefing will air today live on NASA Television at 5 p.m. PDT. The participants will be Mike Moses, launch integration manager and Pete Nickolenko, STS-127 shuttle launch director.
News media and the public are invited to observe the live televised broadcast of Endeavour’s launch Wednesday in the Exploration Center at NASA Ames Research Center, Moffett Field, Calif.
The 16-day STS-127 mission will feature five spacewalks and complete final construction of the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency’s Kibo laboratory. Astronauts will attach a platform to the outside of the Japanese module that will allow experiments to be exposed to space.
