HUNTSVILLE, ALA. — As NASA celebrates its 50th anniversary this year, the Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Ala., has unveiled a reminder to visitors and travelers passing through the Huntsville International Airport of just how the “Rocket City” got its name.
The new pictorial mural at the airport chronicles 50 years of space accomplishments in Huntsville. Spanning an 80-foot wall, the mural illustrates the importance of the Marshall Center to the Space Age, and depicts how Marshall is shaping the future of space exploration by helping to return humans to the moon. As an engine of opportunity for its community and region, the Marshall Center continues to inspire and motivate America’s next generation of space travelers.
The mural is over a year in the making. When the airport began a remodeling project, Marshall proposed a plan to replace NASA exhibits throughout the airport with this informative, eye-catching mural.
