The NASA Web portal and Earth Observatory websites both received a Webby Award — the leading international honor for the world’s best web sites. The NASA Web portal won in the Government + Law category, and Earth Observatory won in the Education category. In addition, both sites won The People’s Voice Award in their categories.

The Academy created the awards in 1996 to help drive the creative, technical, and professional progress of the Internet and evolving forms of interactive media. The Academy selects the nominees and winners
for The Webby Awards. The winners were announced June 5th online.
While members of The International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences select the winners for The Webby Awards, the online community determines the winners of The People’s Voice Awards. Nearly 200,000 of you, our online audience, cast votes this year.

NASA Web sites that have previously won the People’s Voice awards are Science@NASA and Mars Pathfinder.
