NASA astronauts, engineers and scientists will participate in events in the San Francisco Bay Area June 7-10 to share the accomplishments, promise and opportunities for research aboard the International Space Station.
Astronauts Michael Barratt and Stephen Bowen will share their stories about life working and living in space. Space station scientist Kirt Costello from NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston and Cynthia Bouthot, Center for Advancement of Science in Space’s (CASIS) director of commercial innovation, also will join in activities during the week.
NASA will participate in the Bio International Conference June 7-9 at the Moscone Convention Center, San Francisco. NASA’s Driven to Explore exhibit will be available for viewing from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. Barratt will participate in several lecture series throughout the conference, including meeting a group of local high school students.
On June 10, Bowen will meet with the public and legislative leaders at NASA’s Ames Research Center at Moffett Field, California, about 40 miles south of San Francisco. The NASA Driven to Explore exhibit will be open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. for a free public outreach event. Ames researchers also will be on hand to showcase the center’s prominent biology research and technology demonstrations on the space station.
