NASA TV will broadcast live the arrival of the Russian Progress cargo spacecraft at the International Space Station (ISS) on Dec. 25. NASA TV coverage begins at 6 p.m. EST, and the Progress will dock at approximately 7:05 p.m. EST.
The Progress will bring approximately 5,000 pounds of cargo to the ISS Expedition 10 crew. This is the 16th Progress to dock with the Station. The supplies include food, fuel, spare equipment and Christmas gifts from home. Commander Leroy Chiao and Flight Engineer Salizhan Sharipov have been aboard the Station since mid-October.
To make room for the new craft, the Progress that arrived at the Station in August will be undocked and deorbited on Wednesday, Dec. 22. NASA TV will not cover the Progress 15 undocking. The new Progress is scheduled to launch from the Baikonur Cosmodrome, Kazakhstan, at 5:19 p.m. EST on Dec. 23. NASA will not have live TV coverage of the launch. A status report will be issued once the Progress reaches orbit.
NASA TV is available on the Web and via satellite in the continental U.S. on AMC-6, Transponder 9C, C-Band, at 72 degrees west longitude. The frequency is 3880.0 MHz. Polarization is vertical, and audio is monaural at 6.80 MHz. In Alaska and Hawaii, NASA TV is available on AMC-7, Transponder 18C, C-Band, at 137 degrees west longitude. The frequency is 4060.0 MHz.
