MOFFETT FIELD, CALIF. News media are invited to attend a NASA sponsored Conference on Intelligent Data Understanding (CIDU) Oct. 5-6, 2010 at the Computer History Museum, Mountain View, Calif.
There will be approximately 22 research presentations and 25 poster presentations by researchers from around the world during the two days. There is also going to be seven invited talks by senior scientists from the academia, government and the industry. There also will be a panel on the second day discussing the emerging issues in data to knowledge discovery in these application areas, which are of extreme importance to NASA.
WHAT: CIDU 2010 will bring together top researchers and practitioners in the field of data mining focusing on research and development activities in the Earth Sciences, Space Sciences, and Systems Health application areas. The research results and ideas to be presented at the conference are expected to solve some important data challenges that NASA currently faces in these three application areas.

WHO: The conference general chair is Ashok Srivastava, who heads the Intelligent Data Understanding group at NASA Ames Research Center. He is the Principal Investigator for the Integrated Vehicle Health Management project and is also the planning lead for the System-wide Safety & Assurance Technology project within the Aviation Safety program managed by the Aeronautics Research Mission Directorate.
