StenniSphere, the visitor center at NASA’s Stennis Space Center near Bay St. Louis, announces its summer hours. Beginning Sunday, May 29, 2005, until Labor Day weekend, StenniSphere will be open daily until 5 p.m. Public tours begin at 10 a.m., and group tours with their own transportation can have earlier admittance. The center will be closed July 4.
Stennis Space Center is America’s largest rocket engine test complex, where every Space Shuttle Main Engine is test fired and proven flight-worthy. StenniSphere offers fun, educational, interactive exhibits, presentations and scientific demonstrations, the Space Odyssey gift shop and the RocKeTeria, a 1960s-style diner. Free tours begin at the Launch Pad, located at the Hancock County Welcome Center, Exit 2, I-10. All visitors age 18 and older must present a valid photo I.D., such as a driver’s license or passport.
