BAY ST. LOUIS, Miss. – NASA’s Shared Services Center was named runner-up for the Best New Shared Services Organization Excellence Award, which recognizes the most successful shared services organization launched within the last three years.
The Shared Services Excellence Awards are nationally recognized as the highest accolade for shared services organizations. The award was given at the International Quality and Productivity Center 11th Annual Shared Services Week 2007.
A panel of shared services experts and leaders evaluated nominations based on organizational design, start-up strategy, procedures, implementation, change management and communication strategies. The NASA’s Shared Services Center was launched on March 1, 2006. It is located on the grounds of the Stennis Space Center.
The center is a public-private partnership between NASA and Computer Sciences Corporation, El Segundo, Calif. The center consolidated activities from ten NASA centers in the areas of financial management, human resources, procurement and information technology.
The Best New Shared Services Organization Excellence Award went to Verizon Communications, Inc., New York.
