HOUSTON – NASA will hold a media briefing at 1 p.m. CST Tuesday, Jan. 15, with the next resident crew of the International Space Station and a South Korean spaceflight participant.
The briefing will originate from NASA’s Johnson Space Center, Houston, and be broadcast live on NASA Television. Questions will be taken from news media at participating NASA sites.
The briefing participants include:
- Expedition 17 Flight Engineer and NASA astronaut Gregory Chamitoff
- Expedition 17 Flight Engineer and NASA astronaut Sandy Magnus
- Expedition 17 Flight Engineer and NASA astronaut Garrett Reisman
- Expedition 17 Commander and Russian cosmonaut Sergei Volkov
- Expedition 17 Flight Engineer and Russian cosmonaut Oleg Kononenko
- South Korean spaceflight participant Ko San, who will fly to the
- complex under a commercial agreement with the Russian Federal Space
- Agency
Volkov, Kononenko, Reisman, Chamitoff and Magnus will be available for individual round-robin interviews in person or by phone following the news conference. There also will be a brief photo opportunity. To participate in the interviews, news media should contact the Johnson newsroom at 281-483-5111 no later than 4 p.m. Monday, Jan. 14.
On April 8, Volkov, Kononenko and Ko San will launch to the station aboard a Russian Soyuz spacecraft. Ko San will return to Earth with Expedition 16 Commander Peggy Whitson and Flight Engineer Yuri Malenchenko on April 19 in a Soyuz.
Reisman will fly to the station on the STS-123, which is targeted to launch in March. Chamitoff will replace Reisman on the station and is scheduled to launch on the STS-124 mission in April. Magnus will join the Expedition 17 crew in the fall and replace Chamitoff.
