NASA has been very successful in incorporating women-
owned small businesses into contracting efforts. The agency
continues to annually increase awards to women-owned small
businesses.
“NASA has nearly quadrupled its total contract dollars to
women-owned business from $219 million in FY 1992 to $743
million in FY 2002,” said Ralph C. Thomas, III, Assistant
Administrator for NASA’s Office of Small and Disadvantaged
Business Utilization (OSDBU).
The OSDBU recently issued a publication highlighting
examples of the many outstanding women-owned businesses that
have contributed to the space program. The publication is
entitled “Women Contractors at NASA: Selected Profiles of
Women-Owned Small Businesses.” It is a collection of
profiles illustrating the diverse and important work
performed by women-owned contractors as well as the
outstanding women leading the companies.
