NASA has selected Air Products and Chemicals, Inc., Allentown, Pa., to design, furnish and install a plant to produce liquid nitrogen for the National Transonic Facility, a cryogenic wind tunnel located at NASA’s Langley Research Center, Hampton, Va.
The 24 month, firm-fixed price contract has a maximum value of approximately $16 million.
Air Products will provide a turnkey project capable of annually delivering 50,000 tons of liquid nitrogen. Contract services include all materials, labor, engineering services, inspection, testing, documentation and training.
