The first quarterly report from the reconstituted NASA
Aerospace Safety Advisory Panel (ASAP) is available on the
Internet.
NASA Administrator Sean O’Keefe rechartered ASAP in November
2003, to provide independent, long-term oversight of safety
issues regarding operations, missions and other agency
initiatives. The charter was revised to be consistent with
the intent of ASAP’s original 1967 charter. That includes
being focused on NASA’s safety and quality systems,
industrial and systems safety, risk management, trend
analysis and the management of these activities.
The new charter also calls on ASAP to report quarterly
instead of annually. This is the panel’s first report. The
quarterly report, information about ASAP, including a copy of
