The potential launch today, June 11, of NASA’s Low-Density Supersonic Decelerator (LDSD) has been delayed due to weather conditions at the U.S. Navy’s Pacific Missile Range Facility in Kauai, Hawaii, where the project’s test will occur. Conditions are not favorable for the balloon-based launch, in which a saucer-shaped vehicle will fly in near-space to test landing technologies for future missions to Mars.
The next potential launch opportunity falls on June 14.
