MOFFETT FIELD, Calif., — News media are invited to attend a Green Earth public forum at NASA Ames Research Center, Moffett Field, Calif. in the Exploration Center on Monday, April 19, 2010.
WHAT: In celebration of Earth Week, NASA Ames Research Center and the Chamber of Commerce Mountain View (CoCMV) are partnering to give media, students and the general public an opportunity to listen to NASA Earth scientists discuss their research and applications, and business leaders talk about the importance of going green. Mountain View is a certified Bay Area green business.
WHEN: Session 1: Monday, April 19, 2010 1-5 p.m. PDT, “NASA Discusses Earth Science with the Next Generation;” Session 2: 5:30-7:30 p.m. PDT “Mountain View’s Green Efforts Advance to Next Version.” WHERE: NASA Ames Research Center, Moffett Field, Calif. in the Exploration Center, the large white dome located adjacent to the main gate. Parking is available and no visitor badges are required.
WHO: Speakers and their topics include: NASA scientists Jonathan Trent, “Turning algae into jet fuel, NASA’s OMEGA project”; Liane Guild, “NASA’s coral reef ecosystem biodiversity and change research”; Ramakrishna Nemani, “Taking the pulse of the planet,” Nemani also will unveil NASA Advanced Supercomputer System’s Earth model, called NASA Earth Exchange; Anthony Strawa, “How to Reduce Your Energy Consumption.”
Also speaking will be Oscar Garcia, CoCMV chief executive officer, “The Impact of Going Green”; Aileen LaBouff, Green Mountain View volunteer, “Philosophy behind going green”; Robert Baertsch, co-founder of Unimodal Systems, Inc., “Skytran NASA partnership: Launching a new paradigm in green mobility and traffic relief”; Thomas Grimm, chief innovation officer of Airship Earth; “Building a New World for Earth Day.”
