NASA announced its minority contractor, subcontractor and women-owned business of the year in a ceremony today in Washington. The honors cap an exceptional year of small business achievements in support of space exploration.
NASA named Tessada & Associates, Inc., Springfield, Va., as NASA’s Minority Contractor of the Year. Bastion Technologies, Inc., Houston, was named Minority Subcontractor of the Year, and Barrios Technology, Ltd., Houston, was named NASA’s Woman-Owned Business of the Year.
NASA also recognized outstanding advocates within the agency for their contributions and innovative approaches with minority and women-owned business. These exceptional achievement medals were given in three categories: Technical, Procurement and Small Business.
The winner in the Technical category was Eric B. Clark, NASA’s Glenn Research Center, Cleveland. In Procurement, the winner was Jeffrey Jackson, NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center, Huntsville, Ala. The winner in the Small Business category was Robert Medina, NASA’s Dryden Flight Research Center, Edwards, Calif.
Winners of NASA’s Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization’s Special Recognition Awards for lifetime achievement or a single outstanding act were: Bay Systems of Oakland, Calif.; Futron Corp., Bethesda, Md.; and T/J Technologies, Inc., Ann Arbor, Mich.
NASA’s Langley Research Center, Hampton, Va.; Stennis Space Center, Miss.; Marshall and Dryden were recognized for meeting or exceeding all negotiated socio-economic small business goals.
