In celebration of its 75th anniversary, NASA’s Glenn Research Center is having a free public open house at Plum Brook Station in Sandusky June 11 and 12 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

This is Plum Brook Station’s first open house since 2008. Nearly 25,000 people attended an open house at NASA Glenn’s Cleveland campus in May.

Media who wish to cover the Plum Brook open house during or prior to the event should contact Jan Wittry at 216-870-0348 or jan.m.wittry-1@nasa.gov for media tour information and security clearance. Plum Brook Station officials will be available for interviews throughout the week.

The event will begin at the Kalahari Convention Center, where guests can see NASA exhibits and talk to rocket scientists and engineers about their roles in the nation’s aeronautics and space exploration program. There will be hands-on activities for kids and science demonstrations, and astronaut Sunita Williams will speak at 2 p.m. each day.

Buses will depart Kalahari until 4 p.m. both days, taking guests on guided tours of Plum Brook’s 6,400 acres of open prairies, oak savannahs and world-class test facilities. Those facilities include the world’s largest thermal vacuum chamber, where scenes from Marvel’s “The Avengers” movie were filmed.

Members of the public who have questions about the open house should call 216-433-5555 or visit www.nasa.gov/glenn75.
