Media are invited to join officials from NASA’s Glenn Research Center in Cleveland, FLEXcon Inc. of Spencer, Massachusetts, and its affiliate Blueshift International Materials, Inc. of San Antonio, Texas, for a signing ceremony marking the manufacturing and marketing of Glenn’s patent pending polyimide aerogels at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 3, at Glenn.

The ceremony’s speakers include NASA Glenn Director Jim Free, President and CEO of FLEXcon Neil McDonough and Glenn’s Director of the Office of Technology Incubation and Innovation John Sankovic.

Following the signing of the agreement, there will be a tour of the aerogels research facility where scientists are discovering new ways to revolutionize aerogels.

The exclusive license allows FLEXcon and Blueshift to manufacture and market Glenn’s patent pending polyimide aerogels for many aerospace applications such as insulation for cryotanks and spacesuits, as well as more down-to-earth uses in construction, refrigeration and pipe insulation.

Media interested in attending should contact Jeannette Owens or the Media Relations Office at 216-433-2901 by 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 2, in order to be cleared by security.
