Seth A. Harbaugh has been named deputy director of Center Operations at NASA’s Glenn Research Center effective April 6.
In his new position, Harbaugh is responsible for assisting in the management of procurement, protective services, external programs, process improvement, logistics and technical information.
“Seth has significant experience as a leader, program manager and supervisor,” said Robyn Gordon, director of Center Operations at Glenn. “He is well prepared to help guide the delivery of the center’s institutional services.”
Harbaugh, who began his NASA career in 2009, recently served as deputy chief of Glenn’s Logistics and Technical Information Division where he managed a wide range of institutional operations at Glenn, including transportation services, freight traffic, fuels, propellants and chemicals; contract property and equipment management; scientific and technical information management, publishing services, imaging technology services; metrology; and custodial and waste management services.
Harbaugh, a native of Dayton, Ohio, earned a Bachelor of Science in marine science in 1997 from Coastal Carolina University, Conway, South Carolina. From 2000 to 2009, he served with the U.S. Coast Guard as a commissioned officer and civil servant.
He has received numerous commendations and awards throughout his career, most recently the NASA Quality and Safety Achievement Recognition award and the Federal Executive Board’s Wings of Excellence award.
