CLEVELAND — A special program to encourage students to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering and math, or STEM, will be held Wednesday, Jan. 12, at Heritage Middle School, 14410 Terrace Road at 9 a.m and at Chambers Elementary School, 14305 Shaw Avenue at 10:30 a.m.
The program will begin with Superintendent Myrna Loy Corley welcoming students and introducing guests who took advantage of and benefited from NASA educational programs.
East Cleveland Mayor Gary Norton will share how he gained academically from working at NASA’s Glenn Research Center as a co-op student. Glenn Center Director Ramon “Ray” Lugo will speak about the importance of STEM education and veteran astronaut Mike Foreman will explain how he chose a career as an astronaut, show footage of a shuttle mission and sign autographs.
Educational experiments will be demonstrated and students can have their free photo taken in the “Picture Yourself in Space” photo booth.
