NASA’s Glenn Research Center in Cleveland is hosting the International Space Apps Challenge Friday, April 28 through Sunday, April 30. Registration is now open on the Space Apps Challenge website.
Now in its sixth year, the international event brings coders, scientists, designers, storytellers, makers, builders, technologists and space enthusiasts together in cities around the world to address NASA challenges.
One of OHTec’s 2017 Tech Week activities, the Space Apps Challenge continues to grow in popularity. Last year, Cleveland reported the fourth highest number of attendees in the United States.
The theme of this year’s challenge is Earth. Participants will be asked to use NASA’s Earth Science data to develop mobile applications, software, hardware, data visualizations and platform solutions that could help improve life on Earth.
Space Apps Challenge activities include a social gathering on April 28 featuring NASA Glenn’s band, and work time on April 29 and 30. Team presentations and awards will be given on Sunday.
In addition to tackling NASA’s challenges, participants will hear from NASA speakers and tour Glenn’s Graphics and Visualization Lab and Zero Gravity Research Facility.
