In celebration of its 75th anniversary, NASA’s Glenn Research Center in Cleveland, Ohio, is bringing the excitement of aeronautics and space exploration to the Vectren Dayton Air Show in Vandalia, Ohio, June 18-19, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The exhibit will feature NASA’s premier Journey to Tomorrow traveling exhibit, an S-3B Viking aircraft static display and a tent featuring interactive displays.
Inside the 53-foot-long trailer, space-enthusiasts can engage in hands-on educational activities, watch videos about NASA’s role in the future of human space exploration and how environmental issues impact our planet, perform experiments inside a glovebox, use a planetary gravity simulator to learn how gravity changes from planet to planet and see a real moon rock up close. The exhibit is air-conditioned and wheelchair accessible.
NASA’s flying laboratory, the S-3B Viking aircraft will also be on display. The S-3B is currently flying as part of NASA’s Airborne Science Program supporting Great Lakes Environmental Aerial Monitoring, with a mission to learn more about the Lake Erie algal bloom that contaminated water supplies in northwestern Ohio and southeastern Michigan.
Inside NASA’s tent, guests can test their skills landing on Mars using the Xbox Kinect video game, “Mars Rover Landing”, receive a photo from the popular “Picture Yourself in Space” photo booth and pickup NASA lithographs, bookmarks, stickers and other material.
