WASHINGTON — NASA has exercised a third, one-year option with Bastion Technologies Inc. of Houston to continue supporting the agency’s Office of Safety and Mission Assurance in Washington and Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Ala.

The option runs through Jan. 31, 2012. Under the contract, the company also earned two additional years of performance beginning in February 2012.

The contract is a cost-plus-award fee with award term arrangements. This $37.3 million option and the $76.4 million two-year award term bring the value of the contract to approximately $250.1 million. The base contract and two options previously exercised were valued at $136.4 million. Unexercised options and award terms could extend the contract period of performance three additional years to 2017 and increase the total value to more than $376 million.
