NASA and the Boeing Space and Communications Group, Houston,TX, have
definitized a planned contract change valued at $51.6 million for the
procurement of software to support the addition of Node 3 to the
International Space Station Program.

Under the contract change, which was previously budgeted for, Boeing
will provide the software and support for Node 3, which was added to the
program in March 1997 as part of a barter agreement with the European
Space Agency.

Node 3 is scheduled for launch to the Station aboard the Shuttle in
2004, and will be used as a “life support center” housing oxygen
regeneration, air revitalization, waste management, and water recovery.
It also will provide valuable additional docking ports to the orbital
