NASA’s Science Mission Directorate, Multidisciplinary Division, Washington has selected the agency’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Pasadena, Calif., for a grant to support the Interdisciplinary Exploration Science (IES) Program.

The grant is for IES research that could connect the goals of NASA’s Vision for Space Exploration to the ongoing, but more narrowly focused, scientific activities within Earth system science, planetary sciences, astrophysics, and solar physics.

Research involving joint research efforts by investigators from different scientific communities, particularly from both Earth and space science, is also encouraged. The maximum value of the grant is $1,530,027.

The research also supports the Vision for Space Exploration, NASA’s long- term plan to return astronauts to the moon and extend exploration to Mars and beyond.
