NASA officials will be available Tuesday, Oct. 10, from 1 to 4 p.m. EDT to exchange information and receive public comments about the recently released Draft Environmental Impact Statement for the proposed Mars Science Laboratory mission.
The meeting will be at the Hyatt Regency Capitol Hill, Congressional ‘A’ Conference Room, 400 New Jersey Ave NW, Washington.
Under the proposed action, NASA would build a Mars mobile rover powered by a multi-mission radioisotope thermoelectric generator. An alternative mission would be powered by solar arrays.

The mobile robotic science laboratory is planned for launch in fall 2009. The science laboratory’s mission was designed to determine if Mars has or had an environment that could support microbial life. The project is managed by the Jet Propulsion Laboratory.
