The two crewmembers aboard the International Space Station are venturing outside for a spacewalk. NASA TV is carrying the event live beginning at midnight EST, March 27. Hatch opening is expected at about 1:25 a.m. EST, March 28.
The Expedition 10 crew, Astronaut Leroy Chiao and Cosmonaut Salizhan Sharipov, will spend nearly six hours outside the Station. They will prepare for the arrival of Europe’s Automated Transfer Vehicle (ATV) resupply ship. They will install three communications antennas for the ATV and a GPS antenna. Sharipov will manually deploy a Russian experiment, tossing a small science satellite called “Nanosatellite” into orbit.
