MOFFETT FIELD, Calif., — News media and the public are invited to observe the live televised broadcast of STS-122 space shuttle Atlantis on Thursday, Dec. 6, in the Exploration Center at NASA Ames Research Center, Moffett Field, Calif.
WHAT: An opportunity to watch the live televised broadcast of the launch of STS-122 space shuttle Atlantis. The launch is scheduled at 1:31 p.m. PST from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center, Fla., and will be televised live on NASA TV. In addition to seeing the broadcast, attendees will hear remarks from Jack Boyd, senior advisor to the center director, about NASA Ames’ contributions during NASA’s first 50 years. Space Transportation System Project Manager John Allmen will be available for interviews.
WHEN: 1:31 p.m. PST, Thursday, Dec. 6, 2007. The Exploration Center will remain open following the space shuttle launch until 4 p.m. PST as usual.
WHERE: NASA Ames Research Center, Moffett Field, Exploration Center, located at the main gate, Moffett Field. To reach NASA Ames, take U.S. Highway 101 to the Moffett Field, NASA Parkway exit and drive east on Moffett Boulevard towards the main gate and bear right into the parking lot. The Exploration Center is located in the large white dome.
NASA TV is carried on the Web and on an MPEG-2 digital signal accessed via satellite AMC-6, at 72 degrees west longitude, transponder 17C, 4040 MHz, vertical polarization. It’s available in Alaska and Hawaii on AMC-7, at 137 degrees west longitude, transponder 18C, at 4060 MHz, horizontal polarization.
