training conference at NASA Ames Research Center, Silicon Valley, CA, Jan.
20, to learn how small businesses can help NASA meet its needs in
information technology. The conference will be held from 8 a.m. PST to
4:30 p.m. PST in the Moffett Training and Conference Center, Bldg. 3. To
get to Ames, take the Moffett Field exit off Highway 101. At the Moffett
Federal Airfield main gate, turn right into a small parking lot, and enter
the Visitor Badging Office to obtain entry badges and maps to the site.

NASA AMES TO HOST INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY CONFERENCE
In an effort to increase participation in its Small Business Innovation
Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) programs,
NASA Ames Research Center, Silicon Valley, CA, will host a two-day
conference for small, high-technology companies Jan. 19-20.
For the past 15 years through the SBIR and STTR programs, NASA has provided
an opportunity for small, high technology companies (500 or fewer
employees) and research institutions to participate in government-sponsored
research and development of key technologies needed for its missions. The
conference will be held from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day in the Moffett
Training and Conference Center, Bldg. 3. The first day of the conference
will consist of a training course to instruct small business owners how to
write successful SBIR and STTR funding proposals.
Phase 1 SBIR awardees receive up to $75,000 for a six-month feasibility
study and Phase II SBIR awardees receive up to $600,000 for two years to
generate either innovative hardware or software. STTR participants receive
similar payments. The second day will feature presentations on data
systems health and safety, neural networks, automated reasoning for
autonomous systems, tele-operations and virtual environments, and advanced
concepts in air traffic management.
Registration will be held each day at 8 a.m., and attendance on the first
day will be limited to the first 75 applicants. For more information,
