NASA Ames Research Center is hosting an “Ames Exploration Systems Technology Partnerships Forum” on July 22-23, 2004. The primary purpose of this event is to foster collaboration between NASA, industry and academia for the upcoming Broad Agency Announcement (BAA) for Human and Robotic Technology (H&RT) within the Office of Exploration Systems at NASA Headquarters. The H&RT BAA is now scheduled for release on July 23, 2004, with Notices of Intent (NOI) due August 6, 2004. An industry day will be held at NASA Headquarters on July 29, 2004. More information is available online at: http://prod.nais.nasa.gov/cgi-bin/eps/synopsis.cgi?acqid=111083
The focus of the Ames Partnerships Forum is to highlight Ames’ critical capabilities and recent accomplishments through presentations, displays and demonstrations, and to encourage the formation of partnerships for Exploration Systems capabilities. Other NASA centers are invited to attend, along with strategic university partners, to encourage a diverse range of collaborations for the upcoming BAA. The first day will focus on overviews of Ames’ capabilities; the second day will be reserved for group discussions and one-on-one meetings between technical collaborators.
Please note that this event is specifically for those interested in forming potential partnerships with Ames to respond to upcoming Exploration Systems opportunities. A brief overview of the BAA will be presented, but the main focus will be on Ames’ capabilities and potential partnerships.
In the presentations, Ames will highlight many of its capabilities and technologies. Areas where Ames has been developing technology relevant to the Exploration Vision include
- Entry Systems Technology and Thermal Protection Systems
- Integrated Systems Health Management
- Autonomy and Robotics
- Human-system interactions and collaboration technologies
- High-end computing
- Nanotechnology
- Systems analysis and modeling and simulation
- In-situ Resource Utilization and advanced cryofluid management
- Analog mission campaigns
- Advanced life support and bioastronautics
- Habitat development and design
The event will be held at the NASA Ames Conference Center (Bldg 3). Please refer to this link for information and registration: http://exploration.arc.nasa.gov/partnerships/. Registration is not required, but for planning purposes and to insure that there is enough room to accommodate all participants, please let us know if you are planning to attend by filling out the short registration form provided.
** Note: participants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents (green card holders). Identification (e.g. valid U.S. driver’s license) must be shown at the gate to Ames.
