The 2019 meeting for the High Energy Astrophysics Division (HEAD) of the American Astronomical Society (AAS) will be held in Monterey, California, at the Portola Hotel & Spa from Sunday, March 17, through Thursday, March 21 [https://aas.org/meetings/head17].

In addition to exciting new results on black holes, active galaxies, and stars, this year’s conference will highlight 20 years of exciting science results from the Chandra X-ray Observatory and the XMM-Newton observatory, and 10 years of exciting gamma-ray astrophysics with the Fermi Gamma-ray Space Telescope. The meeting also marks the 50th anniversary of the HEAD itself.

There will be prize lectures given by the recent winners of the HEAD Mid-Career Prize (Enrico Ramirez-Ruiz of the University of California, Santa Cruz) and Dissertation Prize (Jennifer Barnes of Columbia University). Josh Sokol, winner of the David N. Schramm Award for High Energy Astrophysics Journalism, will give a public talk during the meeting as well as be presented with his award.

HEAD offers complimentary meeting registration to qualified journalists as described here:
