An ILS Proton will launch the Intelsat 22 satellite for Intelsat S.A., the world’s leading provider of fixed satellite services. The Intelsat 22 satellite is under construction by Boeing Space and Intelligence Systems is scheduled for launch in the first half of 2012. The Intelsat 22 mission is part of the Intelsat Multi-Launch Agreement which allowed Intelsat the flexibility to substitute the Intelsat 22 satellite for the previously-announced Intelsat 21 satellite.
The Intelsat 22 satellite, weighing 6400 kg, will be built on the Boeing 702MP platform and will be launched aboard an ILS Proton utilizing a 65,000 km super-synchronous transfer orbit.
