(Washington, DC) – House Science, Space, and Technology Committee Ranking Member Frank Lucas released the following statement today after it was announced that former Chairman Sherwood Boehlert passed away last night:
“I was deeply saddened to hear that Congressman Sherwood Boehlert passed away. I had the honor of serving with him on the Science Committee for years where he showed an unmatched commitment to advancing science, improving our space program, and conserving our environment. I learned a great deal from his leadership, and I have many fond memories from our work together. I’ll never forget the privilege of traveling to the South Pole with him—it was an amazing experience that helps inform my work today. Chairman Boehlert was smart and principled and a public servant in the truest sense of the term. My prayers are with his wife and family during this sad time.”
