I would like to set the record straight about a statement in Edward Hujsak’s commentary on the subject of perchlorate and human health [“Obama’s Rocket,” May 24, |page 19].
The scientific database on perchlorate is robust, and, contrary to his statement, numerous authoritative bodies, including the National Academy of Sciences, the U.S. Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry, and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, have all concluded that perchlorate is not likely to be carcinogenic to humans.
