The Kuwait Air Defense Forces successfully conducted tests of their Patriot Air and Missile Defense System against five ballistic missile targets in December, according to a Jan. 11 Raytheon press release.

Kuwait’s Patriot Advanced Configuration-2 Plus fire control unit fired missiles that destroyed two Patriot missiles that were being used as targets and three other missiles that were emulating a foreign tactical missile attack, the press release said. The tests conducted at Udairi Range were part of a joint Kuwait air force-army exercise.

Raytheon Integrated Defense Systems of Tewksbury, Mass., is the Patriot’s prime contractor, providing the system for the United States, Kuwait and 10 other allied nations.
