Spacenet Inc., the McLean, Va.-based subsidiary of Israel’s Gilat Satellite Networks, announced Nov. 28 that Glenn Katz will become the company’s chief executive officer in January.

Katz, Spacenet’s president and chief operating officer since 2006, is replacing Andreas M. Georghiou, the company’s chief executive for the past five years.

Katz originally joined Gilat in 1993 and held several executive roles with the company before going to work for StarBand Communications as interim chief executive and chief information officer, leading the consumer satellite broadband venture’s 2006 merger with Spacenet.
