Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. (NYSE:JEC) announced today it received a contract modification of $34.8 million to provide aerospace testing and facilities operations and maintenance at NASA Ames Research Center at Moffett Field, Calif.
The modification will allow additional support for testing and facility operation, development projects, and the required maintenance and repairs on wind tunnels and other facilities at Ames. This modification brings the total value of the contract, which runs through July 31, 2009, to $123.8 million.
Jacobs has been providing these particular contract services to NASA Ames since 1998. Under a separate joint venture, Jacobs recently reactivated and currently operates NASA Ames’ National Full-Scale Aerodynamic Complex, the world’s largest wind tunnel, which had been out of commission for three years prior to reactivation.
In making the announcement, Jacobs President and CEO Craig Martin said, “Since we began operating NASA Ames’ 12-foot wind tunnel more than 40 years ago, we have enjoyed a productive relationship. We are certainly delighted to continue supporting Ames’ singular aerodynamic and aerothermal test capabilities.”
