Integral Systems, Inc.
announced today the award of a contract from ALCATEL Space
Industries to provide the primary and backup control software for the METOP
satellites of the EUMETSAT POLAR SYSTEM (EPS).
These satellites are part of
the joint program between EUMETSAT and NOAA to provide weather data using
polar satellites.
Integral’s software will perform real-time command and
control, offline trending, and operations automation for the satellites.

“We are extremely pleased to provide our EPOCH 2000 COTS software to
EUMETSAT,” said Bruno Dupas, President of Integral Systems Europe S.A.S.
“Our
EPOCH product line and commercial practices have made us a leader in providing
satellite control systems for commercial operators and civil government
agencies.
We are very pleased for the opportunity to offer EUMETSAT, the
European Organization for the Exploitation of Meteorological Satellites, these
same advantages.”

“This project is the first to be executed out of our new subsidiary in
Toulouse,” said Jacques Consiglio, Integral’s Project Manager for EPS.
“Based
on the response we have seen in the European market so far, I view this as a
great opportunity to not only build up our European team and our local
partnership but also as the beginning of a more beneficial relationship for
everyone in the satellite and satellite operations business.
We are glad to
be continuing our relationship with ALCATEL, and we look forward to bringing
our NOAA experience to the EUMETSAT program.”

“We believe that this win is an important breakthrough in the European
institutional market for Integral’s EPOCH 2000 COTS products,” Consiglio
continued.
“Until now, satellite ground systems for European space agencies
were implemented with custom systems.
It is our belief that only a mature,
flight-proven and adaptable COTS product could meet the cost, schedule and
technical requirements specified by EUMETSAT for the EPS Program.”

Integral Systems has also supplied satellite ground systems to NASA, the
National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), the U.S. Air Force,
the U.S. Navy, the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory,
