The White House-chartered Task Force on Space Industry Workforce and Economic Development launched an interactive website to capture public comment on ways to promote economic growth and sustainability in Florida’s Space Coast region.

Woodrow Whitlow, NASA’s associate administrator for the Mission Support Directorate, said in a June 24 press release that the website, combined with other outreach efforts, is intended to “help the task force prepare recommendations for the president that reflect the greatest needs and concerns of both the public and the area’s aerospace-related industries.”

U.S. President Barack Obama established the task force in a May 3 memorandum naming NASA Administrator Charles Bolden and Commerce Secretary Gary Locke as co-chairs of the effort.

Florida stands to lose thousands of aerospace jobs when the space shuttle is retired from service. The website address is www.nasa.gov/spacecoasttaskforce.
