CLEVELAND–Get out of the cold this winter at the Visitor Center at NASA’s Glenn Research Center. The popular “Third Saturday” series continues with presentations on NASA’s interesting and exciting work.
January 17 – Lake Erie through NASA’s Eyes Visitors will see what surprises unfold when Lake Erie is viewed through NASA’s “electronic eyes.” They will hear how the pilots and engineers use special instruments onboard NASA research aircraft based in Cleveland to study the lake. Presentations begin at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.
February 21 – NASA at the Movies Space and aeronautics have long been a source of inspiration for movies and television programs. Visitors will discover how NASA has participated in the making of some Hollywood productions and gain a NASA perspective on the portrayal of technology in movies. Presentations begin at 10:30 a.m., noon, and 1:30 p.m.
March 21 – Safety in the Skies Visitors will learn how NASA’s leading edge work provides safety in the skies by improving flight safety for pilots and passengers. Presentations begin at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.
Seating for the presentations fills up quickly since space is limited. To guarantee seating, call ahead at 216-433-9653. Admission is free to the Visitor Center and the presentations.
While at the Visitor Center, visitors may stop by the many interactive exhibits and historic artifacts. Children are invited to do craft activities, and everyone can take home a free souvenir digital photograph of themselves from the “Picture Yourself in Space” photo booth.
The Visitor Center is located at 21000 Brookpark Road. It is wheelchair accessible. All adult visitors must present government-issued identification upon entering the research center’s main gate. Access to the Visitor Center is limited to U.S. citizens, and all vehicles are subject to inspection.
Visitors are welcome throughout the year. Hours of operations are Monday-Friday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday and holidays 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Sunday 1 to 5 p.m.
