NASA astronaut and Navy Capt. Brent Jett, set to command the Space Shuttle Atlantis in late August to resume construction of the International Space Station, will be available for live satellite interviews from 4 to 5 p.m. CDT Friday, Aug. 4.
Jett will make his fourth space flight aboard Atlantis on a mission designated STS-115. The mission will mark the start of a series of space flights to complete assembly of the station that will be as complex and challenging as any in history.

Jett’s interviews will be carried live on the NASA TV analog satellite AMC-6, at 72 degrees west longitude; transponder 5C, 3800 MHz, vertical polarization, with audio at 6.8 MHz.
Born in Pontiac, Mich., Jett considers Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. his hometown. He received a bachelor’s in aerospace engineering from the U.S. Naval Academy and a master’s in aeronautical engineering from the U.S. Naval Postgraduate School.
Atlantis will deliver a new 17-ton segment of the station’s truss backbone that will include giant solar arrays, batteries and associated electronics. It sets the stage for more science laboratories to be added to the complex. The mission will include three spacewalks conducted by two different teams. Astronauts Joe Tanner and Heide Stefanyshyn-Piper will perform the first and third spacewalks. Astronauts Dan Burbank and Steve MacLean will conduct the second.
