Former Prisoner of War Joseph Hudson to Speak at NASA Glenn

CLEVELAND — Media are invited to attend NASA Glenn Research Center’s National POW/MIA Recognition Day Ceremony on Friday, Sept. 16 at 1 p.m.

U.S. Army Spc. Joseph Hudson, one of the soldiers captured in An-Nasiriyah, Iraq on March 23, 2003, will speak during the ceremony.

Hudson, a wheeled vehicle mechanic, was in captivity for 21 days and was rescued along with six other prisoners of war. Due to wounds received during the capture, Hudson retired from the Army in September 2004. Hudson was awarded the Bronze Star, Purple Heart and the Prisoner of War Medal for his service in Iraq.

Also during the ceremony, Debbie King, a Glenn employee, will be recognized. King’s father, U.S. Air Force Lt. Col. Lee M. Tigner, has been missing since 1972, after being shot down during the Easter Offensive in Quang Tri Province, South Vietnam.
