On June 29, 2001, Edward Montalvo was charged in the U. S. District
Court, Southern District of Texas, with Theft of Public Money.
Montalvo was formerly employed at Krug Life Sciences, now known as
Wyle Laboratories, Inc., a medical support contractor for NASA. The
charge alleges that Montalvo stole NASA contract funds that he
subsequently used for his own personal use.

On June 25, 2001, Montalvo agreed to forfeit $65,000 to the United
States. This agreement settled a civil forfeiture complaint.

Special Agents of the NASA Office of Inspector General, Office of
Criminal Investigations and the Federal Bureau of Investigation
conducted the investigation. The criminal prosecution is being
handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney John Braddock, Southern District
of Texas, Houston and the civil prosecution is being handled by
Assistant U.S. Attorney Michael Schwartz, Southern District of Texas,
Houston.
