Former NASA employees who have successfully commercialized Glenn
technologies and started their own high tech companies in Cleveland will
kick off a series of discussions designed to achieve a more
business-oriented culture at NASA’s Glenn Research Center, Cleveland, OH.
“Entrepreneurial Revelations,” the first in a series of five weekly
lunchtime seminars, will take place on October 24 at 11:30 a.m. in Glenn’s
Visitor Center Auditorium. Glenn and the Lewis Incubator for Technology
(LIFT) are hosting these programs for Glenn employees to encourage a more
entrepreneurial approach to the commercialization of NASA technologies.
“By holding this series of programs for our employees, we are trying to
excite our employees into thinking about commercial applications for the
technologies they are developing,” said Glenn Center Director Donald J.
Campbell. “As a result, we anticipate an increased number of NASA
technologies that are successfully utilized in the marketplace, leading to
an improved quality of life.”
Subsequent programs in this series will be held at Glenn on October 30,
November 7, November 15 and November 18 and will deal with questions
including: Do I have an innovative idea? How do I protect my idea? How do I
get funding? How do I best utilize NASA’s technology transfer resources?
LIFT is a cooperative effort of Glenn, the Ohio Department of Development,
the Great Lakes Industrial Technology Center and Enterprise Development,
Inc. (EDI). Its primary objectives are to create businesses and jobs in the
State of Ohio and to increase the commercial value of NASA knowledge,
technology and expertise.
