Enterprise

  • Enterprise is a multipurpose commercial space station
    habitat module that will be attached to the Russian segment of the
    International Space Station (ISS).
  • The Enterprise module will be 9 feet (3 meters) in diameter
    and 27 feet (8 meters) long, providing 1800 cubic feet (50 cubic meters)
    of pressurized volume.
  • Enterprise will be outfitted to provide laboratory research
    services, utilities and stowage space. It also will feature a television
    and Internet broadcasting studio that is expected to be the world’s
    first commercial broadcast unit in space.
  • The broadcast studio aboard Enterprise will support the
    production of space-based educational, entertainment, news and information,
    advertising and promotional programming for mass audiences around
    the world.
  • Enterprise research facilities will include 64 ISS locker
    locations and four ISS drawer locations. Experiment interfaces will
    meet NASA’s Express standard to insure compatibility with ISS requirements.
  • Enterprise also will accommodate exterior (un pressurized)
    stowage and research.
  • RSC-Energia and SPACEHAB are developing Enterprise as
    partners. The companies have formed a Space Station Enterprise LLC
    to manage the project. Energia is a lead in development, fabrication
    and operation of Enterprise. SPACEHAB is specifying functional requirements
    for the module and leading the design of payload accommodation features.
  • Enterprise design is derived from Energia’s Progress
    resupply vehicle design.
  • Enterprise takes the place of a Docking and Stowage Module
    previously planned as a Russian contribution to the ISS.

S.P. Korolev RSC Energia

  • S.P. Korolev RSC Energia, the leading company of the
    Russian space industry, was founded in 1946.
  • The first in the world artificial satellite and the first
    in the world manned spacecraft, on which on April, 12 1961 Yury Gagarin
    made the first mission to space, were designed at RSC Energia. The
    history of the company is connected to the first interplanetary mission
    to the Moon, Mars and Venus, the first research and application Earth
    satellites, Vostok, Voskhod and Soyuz manned vehicles, Progress cargo
    vehicles, Salut and Mir orbital stations, Energia-Buran space system.
  • Presently RSC Energia is the prime integrator and contractor
    for the Russian Segment of the International Space Station.
  • RSC Energia is designing advanced launch vehicles, communication
    and remote sensing satellites, other spacecraft. RSC Energia is one
    of the participants in the international Sea Launch program.

SPACEHAB, Inc.

  • Founded in 1984, with more than $100 million in annual
    revenue, SPACEHAB, Inc., is a leading provider of commercial space
    services.
  • SPACEHAB is the first company to develop, own, and operate
    habitat modules and cargo carriers providing laboratory facilities
    and resupply capabilities aboard NASA’s Space Shuttles.
  • The company has supported five successful Shuttle
    research missions, including John Glenn’s return to flight in October
    1998.

    The company has supported 10 successful space logistics
    missions as well, including 7 resupply missions to the Russian space
    station Mir and 3 resupply missions to the ISS.

  • SPACEHAB also supports astronaut training at NASA’s Johnson
    Space Center in Houston and builds full-size space flight trainers
    and space vehicle mockups.
  • SPACEHAB’s Astrotech subsidiary provides commercial satellite
    processing services at facilities in Florida and California in support
    of a range of expendable launch vehicles, including Lockheed Martin’s
    Atlas rockets, Boeing’s Delta rockets and Sea Launch rockets.

Space Media, Inc.

  • SPACEHAB subsidiary Space Media, Inc., was created to
    develop and market TV and Internet programming to be produced on and
    broadcast from the Enterprise commercial space station habitat. This
    Company will bring space into homes and classrooms worldwide with
    television and Internet broadcasting from the ISS.
  • Space Media will be producing space-focused content for
    TV broadcasting and Internet distribution based on exclusive access
    to Enterprise.
  • Space Media also operates the S’*’T’*A*R*SÆ (Space Technology
    And Research Students) global space education program, which allows
    students to design experiments that are then flown in space. Plans
    are in space to fly experiments designed by students in the United
    States, China, Russia, Israel, Singapore, Australia, and several other
