BNSC is pleased to announce their support to proposals from UK industry for a new phase of the DTI Applications Technology Support (ATS) programme.

The themes of the DTI ATS programme are as follows:

  • Providing support to BNSC;
  • Conducting studies to identify potential key enabling technologies;
  • Providing support to National, ESA and International standards actions where there is significant Additionality resulting from HMG’s contribution (ECSS, ISO, BSI, SCAP etc.);
  • Capitalising on Unique UK capabilities.

Announcement of Opportunity Actions in the following areas:

  • Integrated Mission Systems
  • Low Cost Systems
  • Information provision
  • Widening user access
  • Essential Generic Technologies

This new phase of ATS will run for the remainder of the current Financial Year. Proposals may contain options for work in later years, but funding beyond the current phase cannot be guaranteed.

ATS allows for programme actions that are both fully funded and co-funded. As a guide, initial analysis of market needs and identification of key enabling technologies would be fully funded, but once a link to market opportunity is established, co-funding would apply. Support contracts will be generally, but not exclusively, fully funded.

At least 25% of contracts will be placed through the AO procedure. The remainder will be placed by direct negotiation. Full details of the AO will be placed on the BNSC web site by 6 December 2002.

Enquiries regarding this new phase of ATS should be addressed to Mr John Davey, Head of Technology.
