CNES is very sad to learn of the death of René Pellat on Monday 4 August 2003.
René Pellat was CNES President from 1992 to 1995. He will be remembered by everyone who met him as a warm and friendly man close to the personnel under his charge. He was acreative person and a visionary who gave fresh impetus to CNES’s technical and scientific activities.
Yannick d’Escatha, appointed CNES President this year, was a close friend of René Pellat. Heworked with him for many years at the French atomic energy agency CEA, and is very saddened by his death. “René Pellat was a friend. He always gave me the benefit of his analysis and vision concerning the key scientific challenges of the day. For many, he will always be with us.”
Yannick d’Escatha and all CNES personnel would like to express their most sincere condolences to René Pellat’s family, and share their grief.
