The Satellite Industry Association (SIA) today announced that national law firm Davis Wright Tremaine has joined SIA as its newest Affiliate Member. An AmLaw 100 firm with offices across the U.S., Davis Wright serves leading technology clients, including numerous companies in the satellite and space industry.

“On behalf of SIA and its members, I would like to welcome Davis Wright Tremaine as the newest member of the Association,” said Tom Stroup, president of the Satellite Industry Association.  “With the commercial satellite industry growing at an unprecedented rate, companies may face increased regulatory and spectrum challenges. Davis Wright’s expertise in technical, business, and regulatory matters faced by companies looking to deploy innovative satellite systems and space-based services make it an ideal addition to SIA.”

“We’re delighted to join SIA as an Affiliate Member,” said Lafayette Greenfield, a partner in Davis Wright’s Washington, D.C., office, who leads the firm’s space and satellite practice. “The emergence of novel space-related technologies has created unique legal, regulatory, and business challenges. We look forward to working with SIA to help create solutions to these challenges.”

Affiliate membership in SIA is open to satellite companies as well as supporting entities that advocate and promote the domestic commercial satellite industry.  SIA Affiliate Members receive a number of benefits including attendance at SIA’s Annual Association Meeting, participation in all open SIA meetings and most events (excluding the SIA Leadership Dinner) and SIA Member discounts to industry events.  For further details regarding membership in SIA, please see the following link:  https://sia.org/membership/membership-applications/.
